I thought I'd talk a little bit about my reading habits, by doing the Reading Habits book tag!
Do you have certain places at home for reading?
I like to read in my living room. I like putting on fireplace sounds to read to, and playing these videos on the big screen lets me feel like I have a cozy reading atmosphere.
Do you use a bookmark, or a random piece of paper?
I usually use a bookmark, or (more often) sticky tabs, as a bookmark!
Can you just STOP reading, or do you need to stop reading at the end of a chapter / certain number of pages?
Yes! I quite often just stop reading if I have to, but if I can choose when I stop, I'll usually stop at the end of a page, or chapter.
Do you eat and drink while reading?
Not usually, mainly because I'm worried I'll get water on my book!
Multitasking: do you listen to music, or watch TV while reading?
I like to watch read-with-me videos, but I don't watch TV or play music in the background as I often find it quite distracting.
Do you read one book at a time, or several at once?
I usually only read one book at a time! I've tried reading multiple books at once, but I find it distracting and confusing.
Do you prefer reading at home, or can you read anywhere?
I prefer reading at home, but I can read anywhere as long as I'm able to focus enough!
Do you read out loud, or in your head?
I've always struggled to read out loud due to my Dyslexia, but I am getting better at it. But no, normally I will read in my head.
Do you ever read ahead or skip pages?
Only if I come across something triggering. In general though, no I don't skip ahead.
Do you break the spine?
Never deliberately. I have broken spines accidentally in the past, but I hate it when it happens!
Do you write in your books?
Some of them! It depends on the book, why I'm reading it, and what condition the book is in. For example, if the book is already a little damaged (such as having a broken spine, dog-eared pages etc) I will be more likely to write in it. Or, if I have a duplicate copy of a book for the purpose of writing in one and keeping the other pristine. I also often write in the books I'm reading as part of my studies!
